Happy Birthday Cynthia and Way Yee

Published by lihua on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 5:32 pm.

Cynthia and Way Yee turned 20 on the 8th and 9th on September respectively. We very happily obliged to celebrate for them *winks repetitively*.

It was decided by Kakak Sheena that we were to have dinner at Planet Hollywood @ Bintang Walk. Which i totally disagree cos its damn EXPENSIVE and i dun have 'mountain' (i.e. banker) to pay for me. :(

Digressing. And no, i did not totally disagree. Whatever.

Planet Hollywood Pictures to be upload l8r because i'm more excited about uploading the Qba photos. No one said blogging should be chronological.

Anyways, we have been wanting to go clubbing for ages but didn't get the chance to. Till now...

Hehehe...

We decided to go to a rich people place to mingle with rich people. Hehe. Actually, it was rich person Way Yee who decided the place. No, it was Wayz's rich friends who decided. Woopz. Digressing again.

So, we were to club at this super high class place called Qba in Westin KL. Which is beside JW Marriot and Louis Vuitton which goes to show the high-classness of the place.

When we first arrived at the front entrance of Qba, we were kinda skeptic because the place was silent and elegant. Like a hotel lobby.

How wrong were we.

We were then led into the main bar area, which was only accessible through a maze of, erm, velvet curtains.

Then we saw this.

Wuah. High class wei...

The place was full of old men. And gwei los. And yuppies. Which totally different from our usual crowd i.e. the la-las... Heck most of them were smoking cigar. And to me, cigars are for old mafia bigshots. *Innocent Me*.

Anyways, a little background on the place first.
Its signboard reads Qba Latin Bar and Restaurant.
They have live latin/salsa music. Which is totally Fab-ulouso.
No cover charge.
Featured in Malaysian Tatler magazine, which speaks volumes because Malaysian Tatler features the whos who in Malaysia. Dun play play. I will be on the front page one day.... maybe....

The place doesn't have cover charge, so we ordered a bottle of Chivas and another bottle of Absolut Vodka. The pure type. No nonsense flavouring like mandarin or peppar. Who likes to drink PEPPER! Woopz, actually i've never tasted any of those.

Anyways the vodka was damn bitter, so the 'Monash' gang chickened out and drank all the chivas while the brave and seasoned (?) 'Hartamas' gang downed the vodka. How brave they were *nods vigorously*.

When they brought the drinks, they just brought the two bottles with the ice and the cups, without any mixers. Us, being SAN PA (how do you say SAN PA in english, erm barbaric?) were like 'EH, NO MIXERS ARH? THEY DUN SERVE HERE ARH?'
Some smart aleks (including yours truly) offered 'HIGH CLASS PLACES DRINK PURE ON THE ROCKS WAN...'.

Which made us feel super stupid when they brought Orange Juice and Coca-Cola later.

Woopz. Haha.

Bday Girl # 1 aka Cynthia posing with the chivas.

The liquor was RM 380 per bottle. Of course its before taxes. The billed was shared among 15 people. Expensive, hoh. Normal price for clubbing, I guess.

lihuas + pikyi doin the 'Lock Hands Drink Beer' Wedding cliche

And so, after doin many 'Lock Hands Drink Beers' and 'Yum Sengs' we went off dancing.

The dancing floor was a little bit too small for our liking. Thus, with our dancing skills limited to random movements, we actually stepped on quite a few other people's toes. With stilletos/heels. Woopz. Anyways, many of those on the dance floor were really dancing salsa. Therefore, to look less like idiots we had to 'fake' salsa moves e.g. copying the neighbouring dancer's leg movements and random hips shaking moves ala Shakira MTV. Didn't quite work i think.

Speaking of idiots, there was one bald man who was conducting the disco. Yes, conducting. He had his hands up in the air, waving in concert with the music. His mouth was singing along. I think he knew spanish or watever the band was singing. And his face had the most expressive expressions you'll only ever see in epic movies like Titanic. During the intermission, where they played PussyCat doll's Don't Cha, he was STILL singing along and waving his hands around ala Pilharmonic Ochestra conductor.

Seriously. It was really quite hilarious and we actually followed some of his movements.

To give you an idea of what he looked like...

Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me...

After getting tired of stomping on people's toes, we went up to rest and replenish ourselves with more alcohol so that alcohol dehydrogenase will continue to have work to do.

And took more photos...

Mr. W with Cynthia

Mr. W was supposed to fetch us home. Before he decided to be greedy and downed numerous glasses of Chivas and got super drunk, puked, and couldn't even walk properly. Poor Mr. W. He was so sorry the next day...

Next time don't be greedy k? Hee... Didn't really get to know him because he was only sober for the first 30 minutes after i met him. Woopz.

Evidence of drunk Ding forcing Pikyi to teach Salsa.

While we were drunk...

The idea was to appear as behind the scenes prop. But ding 'xposed' herself.

Hee....

Overall super fun nite. I just realised i didn't take any pictures of Bday Gurl #2 Wayz at Qba. So here's one from Planet Hollywood.

Happy Bday Way Yee.

What a fun nite.

Darren also blogged about the nite. Click here to view his blog and more picture :).
